RESEARCH & EVIDENCE CANIPEP COMMUNITY

Curiosity, with
the context intact.

Read what was studied. Notice what wasn’t. Keep the ingredient, the experiment and the proposed product separate.

01

A study is specific

Species, material, route, dose and endpoints define what a paper can support.

02

Quality is a separate question

An identity or purity result does not establish clinical effectiveness or permission to market a product.

03

Canitide is not validated care

The references below do not establish that the proposed Canitide concepts are safe or effective for dogs.

Sources, with limits.

Selected primary literature and official guidance.
Reviewed September 27, 2026.

01

Official guidance / FDA

Unapproved animal drugs ↗

FDA explains how intended use and legal marketing status apply to animal products.

What this does not establish: A research-use label, quality certificate or product format is not marketing authorization.

02

Official guidance / FDA

Compounding animal drugs from bulk drug substances ↗

FDA describes the specific circumstances addressed by its enforcement-discretion guidance for bulk compounding.

What this does not establish: Veterinary involvement does not create blanket permission for consumer sales of compounded or unapproved products.

03

Primary study / rat tendon cells / 2014

BPC-157 and growth hormone receptor expression in tendon fibroblasts ↗

Chang and colleagues studied growth-hormone receptor expression and related cell responses in cultured rat tendon fibroblasts.

What this does not establish: A result in isolated rat cells is not a canine recovery outcome, safety assessment or dosing protocol.

04

Primary study / rat and dog pharmacokinetics / 2022

BPC-157 pharmacokinetics, distribution, metabolism and excretion ↗

He and colleagues studied drug exposure and elimination, including intravenous and intramuscular administration in beagle dogs.

What this does not establish: Canine pharmacokinetic data do not establish disease-treatment efficacy, the proposed Canitide combination or a subcutaneous regimen.

05

Primary study / rat wounds / 1999

Thymosin beta-4 and wound healing ↗

Malinda and colleagues investigated full-length thymosin beta-4 in experimental rat wounds and cell-migration experiments.

What this does not establish: Full-length thymosin beta-4 cannot automatically stand in for materials sold as TB-500, or for canine joint recovery.

06

Primary analytical study / molecular identity / 2012

Characterization of a thymosin beta-4 fragment identified in TB-500 ↗

Esposito and colleagues characterized an acetylated seven-residue fragment in a tested TB-500 preparation.

What this does not establish: This identity study establishes neither safety nor clinical efficacy, and does not characterize every product using that name.

07

Primary study / cells and mice / 2015

MOTS-c and metabolic homeostasis ↗

Lee and colleagues examined metabolic signaling and related outcomes in cell and mouse experiments.

What this does not establish: These models do not establish that a Canitide concept improves a dog’s energy, weight or endurance.

08

Primary study / rat experimental wounds / 1993

GHK-Cu and connective tissue accumulation ↗

Maquart and colleagues measured extracellular-matrix changes in rat wound chambers following local exposure to a copper-peptide complex.

What this does not establish: Experimental rat wound biology is not evidence of canine coat growth or a validated Canitide COAT formulation.
